Very vivid picture I get from this. Not sure if the smoke is what I picture, but I see someone stepping outside for a cigarette and the dog excited to see him or her.

That is exactly what I am trying to portray. Yes, the dog smells a familiar person even though the person is not fully visible and one can only see curled smoke from a cigarette. The smell makes the dog excited and he starts to jump up and down. Am so happy that the meaning comes out from my Haiku. Thank you so much. 😊
