Morning Dewdrops

Drip of dewdrops

Shining pearls on fallen leaves.

Mist screens autumn sun.

Born in the year 1968, my childhood was spent amidst the beautiful scenic landscape of a small town in India, Ranchi. Though an engineer by qualification, reading, writing and cooking are my passions. Another thing that I am passionate about is my country, India. As they say, a lifetime is probably not enough to explore the whole of India. Currently based in Kolkata, I can be reached at gdutta17@gmail.com.

    1. That’s where I find true happiness these days. As I age and near the end of my professional career, I feel more drawn to nature. Besides, reading of Haiku has also helped me see nature in a new light and revel in it’s beauty. 😊

      1. What a lovely way to “slow down” and bow out of the everyday crazy demands of society. I am happy for you and glad you found something meaningful.

      2. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. It’s not easy to accept slowing down. I am perhaps lucky that I have found a few appreciative people like you who praise me and inspire me to write better. 😊🙏

      3. Something tells me that you are a wise man who has learnt his place in the universe. Move with change (nature/the natural order of things), or fight a losing game. Wise because you understand this, and that’s humility in itself my friend.

      4. Very nicely explained. You are absolutely correct….one has to accept and move on. I am trying. You words have provided me with extra encouragement. Thank you. 😊🙏

      1. Yes….agree that a break is very much essential to break the monotony. We are all good. It’s the beginning of the festive season in India and normally spirits of everyone would have been very high during this time of the year. This time, unfortunately because of the Covid, all celebrations are low key and fear or depression is the dominant mood. 🙂

      2. Oh dear–though I’m glad you’re all well, I’m sorry that there’s a damper on the festive season, due to Covid…fear and depression are challenging (I’ve been rather depressed again, but not fearful–so I’m grateful :)). I’m wondering how our holiday season will be–perhaps similar to what you’re describing… In November we have Thanksgiving Day/weekend, and in December it’s Christmas…then New Year’s (Jan 1). I think I’ll be okay, though–since I’m alone and always enjoy holidays regardless; I’m creative, do things I enjoy–cooking special foods, and buy myself gifts 🙂 And I can read or binge-watch movies 🙂 Blogging really helps at a time such as we’re living in–we aren’t so alone with friends around the globe, like yourself 🙂 Take good care!

      3. This pandemic is certainly teaching everyone the tricks of living a solitary life, like a hermit living on just the bare essentials. Since you have already had some habit of living along, I am sure you will be at a lesser discomfort compared to all those who love to keep themselves surrounded. So that’s the positive side! 🙂
So cheer up….If my poetry helps to cheer you up a wee little bit, I will work harder to dish out better poetry, for your sake. 😀

      4. You are so right that it’s been much easier for this hermitess to adjust to pandemic-life than for most “social” people. I feel very blessed in that regard!
